A wireless instrument must satisfy both the measurement requirement and the communications duty. Sampling interval, reporting interval, alarm latency, radio coverage, antenna placement, power budget, data platform, security, and maintenance access should be reviewed before deployment.

Record signal quality, reporting and alarm latency, time synchronization, retry behavior, local measurement checks, battery condition, and the receiving platform configuration.
